AP has an open notification (119 posts; apply 01–26.10.2026). Telangana’s 2025 cycle is at viva (05–08.10.2026) and the State has sanctioned 200 additional JCJ courts. A large share of serious candidates now write both papers. This plan treats them as one project with two extras trays.

The only syllabus rule that matters

Use the live notification, not a coaching index from 2023. AP Schedule–A of the 2026 Rules (Notification 118/2026-RC) lists BSA on the civil paper and BNSS, BSA and BNS together with CrPC, IPC and Evidence on the criminal paper, plus FSSA 2006, IT Act 2000, POCSO 2012 and the A.P. Forest Act 1967. Telangana’s last written list (ROC No. 87/2024-RC / Notification 45/2025) still names the old trio and adds Sale of Goods, Commercial Courts Act 2015, Indian Succession Act 1925, Hindu adoption / guardianship / maintenance, Legal Services Authority Act 1987, TS Rent Control 1960, TS Prohibition 1995, Forest and Wildlife 1972, Mental Healthcare 2017, ITPA 1956 and UAPA 1967. Until TG prints BNS / BNSS / BSA, do not assume they will be asked there.

Months 1–4 — common core, one stack

About 70–75% of both papers is the same first-instance docket. Build this once.

  • Civil first ring: CPC (jurisdiction, pleadings, appearance, judgment, execution, appeals, injunctions) + Civil Rules of Practice; Limitation; Specific Relief; Contract; Transfer of Property; Evidence Act.

  • Civil second ring: HMA, HSA, Easements, Registration + Stamp, Land Encroachment.

  • Criminal first ring: CrPC / trial structure, IPC offences that actually reach a JCJ court, Evidence, NI Act 138–148A, PWDVA, Criminal Rules, JJ Act, POCSO.

  • Criminal second ring: Excise and Gaming (AP / TG names).

  • Method: bare Act + one judgment-writing style note per topic. Do not collect commentaries yet.

Months 5–7 — State extras and the new codes

  • AP tray: BSA across both papers; BNS and BNSS mapped against IPC and CrPC section-to-section; FSSA, IT Act, A.P. Forest Act.

  • TG tray: Sale of Goods with Contract; Commercial Courts; Succession Act (wills and proof); HAMA / Guardians and Wards; Legal Services Authority; TS Buildings (Lease, Rent & Eviction) Control Act 1960; TS Prohibition; Forest + Wildlife; Mental Healthcare; ITPA; UAPA.

  • English paper: 40% in translation and 40% in the legal essay are compulsory in AP. Marks do not raise rank. Practise English–Telugu–English on CPC and CrPC passages twice a week. One legal essay a week on a trial-court theme.

Months 8–10 — screening MCQs without abandoning mains

AP shortlists at 40% in a 100-question CBT, ratio 1:10. TG used the same screening idea for the 2025 cycle. MCQs are a filter. Keep writing one Civil and one Criminal mains answer on alternate days. Use previous AP and TG papers, including the Academy’s published analyses of Telangana Paper-I (20.06.2026) and Paper-II (21.06.2026): CPC and Evidence dominated Civil; procedure and special Acts dominated Criminal.

Months 11–12 — full papers and viva habits

  • Three-hour Civil paper and three-hour Criminal paper under exam timing, twice each.

  • One full English paper.

  • Viva file: your application, a two-minute statement of who you are, five trial-court problems (injunction, execution, 138 NI Act, bail, recording of evidence), and the bare-Act sections you will actually cite.

  • If you are on the current TG viva list, this block is now — interviews 05–08.10.2026 at the High Court, Hyderabad.

What not to do

  • Do not run two full separate courses for AP and TG. Run one core and two short extras trays.

  • Do not treat Paper-III as a merit paper.

  • Do not wait for an official “best books” list. The syllabus is a list of Acts. The book is the bare Act you can mark and the answers you have already written.

  • Do not ignore the trainee-officer path in AP 2026 when you plan time after selection.
